How to fax from an Android phone

Step 1 — scan the document with Google Drive

1. Open the Google Drive app and tap the Camera button at the bottom right. On older versions it is + → Scan.
2. Drive opens the camera in scanning mode.
3. Hold the phone over the page — keep it flat and well lit — and capture. Use the crop handles if the edges are off.
4. Tap the + inside the scanner to add more pages, then Save. Drive stores the scan as a PDF.
5. Open the saved PDF, tap the three-dot menu and choose Download, so the file is on the phone for uploading.

No Google Drive on the phone? Samsung Notes scans the same way, most Android camera apps detect a document automatically, and any scanner app that saves a PDF will do. All that matters is ending up with a PDF, JPG or PNG in Downloads.

Step 2 — send it from Chrome

1. Open faxbolt.com in Chrome and tap Send a fax.
2. Tap the upload area and pick the scan from Downloads or Drive.
3. Type the recipient's fax number.
4. Add a cover sheet if the recipient expects one — the free generator works on the phone.
5. Check the summary, confirm your email, and send.

What Android can and cannot upload

• PDF, JPG and PNG go through as they are.
• Google Docs files need exporting: open the document, then Share → Export → PDF.
• Images saved from WhatsApp or Telegram upload only if they are JPG or PNG — WebP files, which those apps sometimes save, are rejected. Convert or re-export them, and remember a photo of a page reproduces worse than a scan of it.
• A screenshot works in a pinch; crop out the status bar first, since the recipient prints whatever you send.

Why no fax app
