Getting it into Google Docs
- Fill in the fields below, or leave them empty if you would rather type in Docs.
- Press Download Word (.docx).
- Open Google Drive and drag the file in, or use New → File upload.
- Right-click the uploaded file and choose Open with → Google Docs. Docs edits the .docx directly and keeps the layout; the file stays a Word document unless you convert it.
- For a native Google Doc — and a reusable master — use File → Save as Google Docs, then rename it something like "Fax cover sheet — template".
Docs keeps the table, the labels and the confidentiality notice. Fonts may substitute slightly, which does not matter: a fax is transmitted in black and white at low resolution anyway.
Why not a Google Docs template link
Most sites hand you a shared Google Doc and tell you to make a copy. That works — the copy is yours once made — but it carries their branding into your file, and the original can change or disappear before the next person on your team goes to copy it.
Downloading a .docx skips all of that. The file is generated in your browser from what you typed — nothing is uploaded to us, and nothing you fill in here is stored anywhere.
Editing it in Docs
- Change any label by typing over it — the fields are an ordinary table.
- Add a logo with Insert → Image, keep it black and white, and place it top right.
- Adjust the confidentiality notice at the foot, or delete it for personal faxes.
- Set your own details once and keep the recipient side blank; that is your company template.
- File → Download → PDF Document when it is time to send: fax services rasterise whatever you give them, and a PDF removes any risk of the layout shifting.
Sending it once it is filled in
